PEGASUS 7/8 Sings at State House

La Salle Academy’s PEGASUS 7/8 has a tradition of joining with another Rhode Island middle schools for special events during the year.  On December 4, the PEGASUS 7/8 students joined San Miguel students for a morning of holiday singing at the State House – an event organized by the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts.

La Salle’s music and chorus director Paula Fontes, who also has the same responsibilities at San Miguel, always arranges for the two schools to sing together.

This year, after the State House songfest, the students from both schools came back to the Brother Chapel as La Salle where the San Miguel Junior Lasallian Youth Leaders facilitated an Advent Prayer Service on the theme of "hope.”  During that time, the students were paid a surprise visit  by Saint Nicholas in the person of PEGASUS Principal Bob Lisi.

This year, after the State House songfest, the students from both schools came back to the Brothers' Chapel as La Salle where the San Miguel Junior Lasallian Youth Leaders facilitated an Advent Prayer Service on the theme of "hope.”   During that time, the students were paid a surprise visit  by Saint Nicholas in the person of PEGASUS Principal Bob Lisi.

The Prayer Service was followed by a Pizza lunch in the La Salle cafeteria and since it happened to be Paula Fontes Birthday, the students and faculty enjoyed some birthday cake too!

The last part of the day was a "community service activity" for both schools.  The La Salle PEGASUS 7/8 faculty organized a project for the kids to make ornaments which are being given to the Providence Meals on Wheels.  They will be distributing the ornaments with the meals during the holiday season.
